Live Updates: Fantasy Premier League GW2 - All You Need to Know

As Gameweek 2 of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season kicks off, managers are already tweaking their squads after a whirlwind opening weekend. With surprises aplenty and big names delivering mixed results, this week offers a chance to capitalize on early trends and avoid the pitfalls of certain transfers. Whether you're chasing points or climbing mini-league rankings, here’s all you need to know from each manager's press conference.

Ruben Amorim (Manchester United)

On the team's improvement

"We are better, but also because we have different characteristics and we can change that during the game. We have more options and you see we play a different style with Cunha, for example, and then in the end with Sesko because he is a different player and we can use. We are improving in that department also. We are creating more chances, so we are ready for any kind of game. The biggest improvement we had [vs Arsenal] was we didn't lose the ball so many times in build-up. That was really good also for our team."

Injury updates

"More important [than England] is for them to help Manchester United to reach our goals. Then they are very, very players, they are experienced and have played a lot of matches. Mason Mount won the Champions League and Luke Shaw, I've already said, when he's fit is really a special player and you can see it every time he players. So it's really important for us to have these two guys available for more games."

The bomb squad

"I think again, I know that is not a good thing to have players in this situation, but it’s clear they want to play in a different club and that is clear. So we try to arrange everything for both parts to be happy, so I have to try to imagine to have the training with the guys that I think are going to be the future and the other guys are training and preparing for the next chapter. When the window is closed, it’s a different history. When the window is closed, we have to receive the players and in a new life, anything can happen."

On Hojlund and Mainoo

"Like a professional player [how did he react to being dropped]. We need to see. Let's wait and see when the market closes and then everything will be clear."

"We have some issues, but we play with two midfielders and sometimes it's a different way of playing. We, and they, have to understand, especially the young players, there is spaces in the season. This is normal with a lot of games, things are going to change, but he's there, he's fighting, he's training and is one more option for us to win games."

Marco Silva (Fulham)

Injury updates

Ryan Sessegnon and Antonee Robinson have trained but need further assessment, adding: "If not, Calvin (Bassey) did a great job at left-back and we know we are more than covered in that position."

Talking on Rodrigo Muniz's future

"He is under contract with us. I am very pleased with real interest from others in Rodrigo. It is a good sign, and we cannot be scared. After this, it is up to us to be resilient and to resist and be strong and sometimes to say no and other times to negotiate. From me, it is clear that I don't want to lose Rodrigo. He is in contention for the game, I count on him and let us see what is going to happen. Rodrigo is likely to stay with us."

David Moyes (Everton)

Injury updates

Moyes is full of praise for Brighton as a club and expects a tough game.

Injuries: "Branthwaite is on the way but not fit, neither is Mykolenko. Patterson is not available either."

Aznou returned to training today.

Difficult transfer window

Moyes now says that he may have to "adjust" in the transfer market to get the squad where it needs to be for the new season. He points to the disappointment at the number of quality players who have turned down Everton's advances this summer. He says the rebuild was always going to take time but now they need to look at the size of the squad and ensure he is not left too short.

He tells Phil of the BBC it has been "a difficult window" and says it "could be a difficult season" but adds the building blocks are being put in place for a better future.

He insists the club has money to spend - the issue is spending it, and spending it in the right way. He did hope he would have more players in by now.

Nuno Espirito Santo (Nottingham Forest)

Talking on his relationship with Evangelos Marinakis

"I always had a very good relationship with the owner, last season we were very close and spoke on a daily basis.

"This season it is not so well [between us] but I always believe that dialogue is important because my concern is the squad and the season we have ahead of us. Our relationship has changed and we are not as close."

Why his relationship has changed

"I don't know exactly but I'm being honest with you, it is not the same. The reason behind it I do not know. What I said last week or two weeks ago was my concern and why I was worried about where we were going [as a club]."

"What I said, I said it with respect. The reality is that the relationship is not what is use to be. It was a respectful relationship based on trust and sharing opinions but now it is not so good."

Nuno's future

"On my side I am doing whatever I can to help Forest, my commitment is something [that I see] and I feel it."

Thomas Frank (Tottenham)

Injury updates

"Destiny [Udogie] is better, trained with the team twice, full training, just too soon to be involved for City. We want him to train tomorrow and have another good week next week. He looks in a good place, very positive about him.

"Biss will miss this game as well. [Dejan] Kulusevski is out, that’s a longer one, I don’t want to put a timeline on it."

On potential incomings

"I don’t speak about specific players, unless they are at our fantastic club.

"There have been a lot of rumours, a lot of times there’s nothing in it. That’s part of the business. There will be a lot of links, to generalise that, to be very, very clear, I don’t want any players that don’t want to come to the club. They don't want to come to the club, to wear this fantastic badge, we don’t want them here."

Richarlison impressing

"Right now, he is my starting nine. He scored two fantastic goals. He had two top games, he’s Brazilian number nine.

"He’s a very good player, I’m very happy with him. Richy wants to stay, I want to keep him, there have been no talks about anything else.

"We just played the first game, scored three goals, that’s pretty promising. It’s a long season, we need players with different abilities.

"[Mohammed] Kudus has the spark and creativity, Wilson [Odobert] does that well, Mathys [Tel] can play different positions.

"We have two good strikers in Dom [Solanke] and Richy, Brennan [Johnson] the deep runner. We have variation up the pitch, but again we’ll look out there for someone who can strengthen but that’s in all areas."

Vitor Pereira (Wolves)

Talking on the Strand Larsen speculation

"He is a very important player for us. I haven't spoken with him about it. He is committed to the team. I watch him in training and he is committed. He likes to win and he is a fighter. He is preparing himself to play tomorrow [against Bournemouth]."

Strong team belief

"I believe we will still have a good team left. We are in the process of building our way of playing, especially because we have new players for this season. We have lost some players but we still have players that have always been in the first XI.

"We need to connect everybody. We know what we are doing and what our vision is for the future, so the players ware working very hard and in a way that I like - because of that I'm positive [about this group]."

Mikel Arteta (Arsenal)

Talking on the Eze saga

"Nothing to comment. I can never talk abut any player that is not part of our group yet."

Havertz's injury

"We don't really know the extent of it. We need a bit more time and some more tests and after that we will have some more clarity.

"I prefer not to talk about the specifics but he is not fit. We need to explore this situation a bit further and decide what we are going to do.

"I don't know [how long he will be out for]. I would love to have him available for tomorrow."

Brief injury updates

"Christian Norgaard won't be in the squad. Ben [White], let's see."

Talking on the importance of a player's mindset

"That's the number one, that they want to be with us and feel something special to come to us. Then the person, what personality we are going to bring - and then the rest comes.

"I think we have done very well in the last few years to create this spirit in the team."

Arteta's plan with Gyokeres

"It was dependent on how the game developed and every game brings different challenges and opportunities.

"I think the game was very demanding physically, it became really open for different reasons and at that time we decided he did enough and we had Kai [Havertz] on the bench to come on and change the game."

An update on Jesus and Timber

"With Jurrien, we have to manage his load because he has been out for a long time again. We have to manage his load and have decided to take his training down.

"Gabriel is doing super well. He looks in a really good place. Obviously it is a massive injury and he needs to come back in a really strong way but he is certainly in the right place."

Andoni Iraola (Bournemouth)

Hopeful for Christie's return

"Ryan has been training pretty normally this week. I hope he trains without any problems today and. I he can get involved tomorrow. He comes without months of playing, but I am seen him at a good level."

On new defenders and potential departures

"It is our main focus right now. We have to be aware of the market and try to improve in every position, but that is the focus of the club at the moment."

On potential departures, he added: "We have a pretty big squad and there will for sure be departures before the window ends. Sometimes it is a matter of finding a good solution from them, but if they cannot find a good solution I am very ready to keep them because they are good players."

Pep Guardiola (Manchester City)

Savinho still out for City

"Rodri and Phil [Foden] were not available for the last game, they were out but it was just because of a lack of training, they are ready for tomorrow.

"Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol and Savinho are the only ones that are out."

Talking on City's record against Spurs

"Spurs have been a tough opponent for us but this is a new season for us and what happened in the past is in the past and there's nothing we can do.

"Last season [4-0 defeat] came after an international break and a poor run of results and the dynamic wasn't good but it is a new season with new vibes and the game will hopefully like the first 15-20 minutes of the game last season."

On the return of Rodri

"I just want consistency with Rodri. I don't have any doubts about his potential or his ability. Still, so far, he is the best player in the world.

"The consistency will come with training and games, training and games, week after week and after that everything will be fine."

Goalkeeper conundrum

"We will decide tomorrow or tonight after dinner. I am happy with him, the new players always bring a new energy and James brings his youth and desire to play for the club he grew up at.

"I said many times it was just his first game, we just have to be consistent and we have to better and improve."

Keith Andrews (Brentford)

Positive injury updates

Brentford could see four players who missed the opening weekend of the Premier League return for the first home game of the season.

Defender Ethan Pinnock and midfielder Yunus Emre Konak have trained this week after recovering from their respective injuries. So has Paris Maghoma, who has completed his rehabilitation programme for his hamstring injury and trained all week.

Mikkel Damsgaard, who missed the opening game due to becoming a father, is expected to return.

For those sidelined on a longer-term basis, Vitaly Janelt is closer to a return after re-joining the first-team squad for training this week and Gustavo Nunes is back on the grass but not yet in group training.

Eddie Howe (Newcastle)

Talking on the Alexander Isak saga

"My preference is it doesn't [play out] publicly. Everything is better behind closed doors, but needs must. The club has spoken, and probably justifiably so in that moment.

"Alex is contracted to us. My wish is he would be playing on Monday night with us, but he won't be. That's regrettable. I 100 percent want to see him in a Newcastle United shirt."

His relationship with Isak

"I haven't seen him this week. I saw him last week. When I see him, we speak as normal. There are no issues there between us. It's a difficult situation from both sides. It's far from ideal for both parties. Alex is training later on and detached from the group. We will catch up at some stage."

"For Alex to play for Newcastle again, he has to be totally committed. It doesn't work any other way."

Graham Potter (West Ham)

Positive team news

"Everybody's fine. George Earthy trained with group today. Luis Guilherme went over on his shoulder the week before the game so he is still missing but apart from that everybody is OK," Potter said.

Getting more out of the squad

"We have to get more out of the squad that we have. We also look to improve, we will do that together, as a club, we will do that collectively and try to find the best solution.

"It's great when you've had a bad result, everyone thinks the silver bullet will come from outside and save us all. History would suggest it doesn't work like that."

Belief in his players

"It's a disappointing result, there's no getting away from that. It's a bad result for us.

"I believe a lot in the players, believe a lot in the team, I believe a lot in the club and my job is to support them and to push and to improve."

Enzo Maresca (Chelsea)

An update on Jackson and Nkunku

Nicolas Jackson is "available but he is not going to be part of squad" tomorrow, says Enzo Maresca.

"We have two strikers and also we know that something can happen before the transfer window closes," he added.

"Christopher is with us, like Nico, but it's the same answer as Nico. The other two players [Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Jackson] are training apart."

Positive injury news

There is good news for Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca with regards to his defence as he confirms centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo is back along with Wesley Fofana.

But midfielder Romeo Lavia and centre-back Benoit Badiashile remain sidelined.

Talking on the Wesley Fofana speculation

"I speak with Wes every day, he is very happy especially because he is back from injury.

"He is joining all the sessions and is very happy. After the Palace game he was on the bench, but from tomorrow he is with us and can get some minutes. We are happy and he is happy."

Whether Liam Delap and Joao Pedro can play together

"Joao can play up front, winger, or behind the striker. He can play in all the positions for sure. No 9 is his best position, or behind striker, but he can play in all positions for us.

Scott Parker (Burnley)

Positive injury updates

"Maybe some. Some are back training. Axel [Tuanzebe] is back training. [Bashir] Humphreys is back training.

"Armando [Broja] is now another week down the line and has had some more work in him which I'm really pleased about. They are all edging to be involved at the weekend."

Daniel Farke (Leeds United)

Bad news for Ampadu

Leeds manager Daniel Farke has confirmed captain Ethan Ampadu has suffered an medial collateral ligament injury.

"He will definitely be out at least until the international break. I hope to have him back on the other side of the international break," Farke said.

"Normally, he's pretty quick after injury, back on the training pitch and he's a tough boy, but it's a blow for us and we will miss him in the upcoming games - at least the two upcoming Premier League games, plus the EFL Cup game."

Brief update on Calvert-Lewin

DCL is a "we will see" but is in team training.

Potential debut for new signing

Daniel Farke hasn't ruled out handing Noah Okafor his debut this weekend.

"He has more or less all the skills. We will provide him with all the backing and a good stage to find a bit more consistency in comparison to what he has done in the last couple of years."

Regis Le Bris (Sunderland)

An update on team news

Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris has said Jenson Seelt is available after he was forced off injured in Saturday's 3-0 win over West Ham.

On reports that the club could add Jhon Lucumi to their defensive line-up: "We still want to reinforce the squad if it makes sense for the balance. It is still possible in the backline if we find the right player with the right mindset to reinforce the squad. We still have one option but if it's not the case then we will stay like we are."

Arne Slot (Liverpool)

Update on the Isak and Guehi rumours

"What I can tell you is not a lot. And if someone else is going to ask that question, it is going to be the same answer.

"As I have said so many times and it has been shown, I could even impact the game on Friday with the players we had on the bench. It would be much nicer to talk about the players that we have.

"I understand why you have to ask the question."

Bad news for Frimpong

Arne Slot has just confirmed Jeremie Frimpong will be out until after the international break with a hamstring issue.

The Netherlands international was substituted late on in his Premier League debut against Bournemouth last week.

Talking on Bradley and Frimpong

"Conor [Bradley] trained for a few minutes with us today for the first time.

"The medical team were completely right about Jeremie [Frimpong] to tell me to take him off because he is out until the end of the international break and that happened during the game.

"I think I got criticised for taking him off, didn't I? It had nothing to do with how he played but we felt he had an issue with his hamstring and by we, I mean the medical staff. It was a good call to take him off. We expect to have him back after the international break."

The impact of having Gravenberch back

"I think he can make a lot [of difference]. At least, if he is the same player he was as last season.

"If you look back at last season, for him not being there and us playing with very good players but very attack-minded players - that hurt us [against Bournemouth].

"If he brings his normal level that will help us."

Transformation of Chiesa

"If he is more available, then he already has more chances to impact our results or his playing time. It is about him staying as fit as he is at the moment.

"I see a totally different Federico now than for large parts of last season which is completely normal because he missed the entire pre-season and he came into a Premier League rhythm in terms of amount of games and intensity."

Fabian Hurzeler (Brighton)

Positive injury updates

"He [Hinshelwood] trained fully so far. So will be an option."

On Baleba: "All positive, very positive. He tried the last days... we couldn't let him play for 90 minutes but now it's about getting him back to his highest level regarding physicality and then I'm sure it will be an option for us at the weekend."

Talking on the Julio Enciso rumours

"There are some talks but nothing is done yet.

"You can see that there's a big interest in him, because he has big potential, because he showed great stuff for us."

The need for another striker

"We miss one more striker. Stefanos [Tzimas] needs time to step into his role.

"We have two strikers with Danny [Welbeck] and Georginio [Rutter]... If Georginio starts you can replace him with Danny, but if you start with both we need to think about who is his replacement."

Positive feedback on Rutter's role in the team

"He is a great connector... Normally, you always have groups in a team, but he is someone who connects the different cultures, different ages, different characters, and that's so important.

"Every time you see him, you need to smile. He brings a good energy and he gives energy to everyone, and I think that's so crucial, because of course there's pressure, but I want the players to enjoy what they're doing."
